A new page of the Circuit’s century-old story will be written with the return of the Spa-Francorchamps track to the FIM Endurance World Championship (EWC) calendar.
A renowned event on the World Endurance calendar from 1973 to 2003 with the name of the 24 Hours of Liège, this wonderful meeting will be back once again on our ultra-fast undulating track in 2023 and let’s not forget its iconic corners: Raidillon, Double Gauche, Bruxelles, Chicane, and so on. This event will delight all two-wheel enthusiasts and the general public will enjoy this exceptional show.
The Circuit is thrilled to be able to welcome everyone back with lots of attractions and renovated infrastructure and facilities to offer an amazing weekend to those who love motorcycles.
A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY
The Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps hosted the first race in its history on 12 August 1921. Because the scheduled auto race had a lack of registrations, the circuit was inaugurated by a motorcycle race: the first Belgian Motorcycle Grand Prix!
Two categories were in contention on the former 14 km track: the 350 cc and the 500cc with 21 entries.
The Belgian Grand Prix, 24 Hours of Liège, and Superbike were all part of the wonder years of motorcycling at the Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps and there were many constructors who were renowned in the country like: F.N., Gillet, Saroléa, and so on.
The start of a great story with new pages just waiting to be written.
THE FIM EWC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP
The spectacular FIM EWC World Championship showcases motorcycles and men (but also some women) in 8 hour to 24 hour tests.
The 2023 calendar includes 4 rounds: the 24 Hours Moto, the 24H SPA EWC Motos, the Suzuka 8 Hours and the Bol d’Or.
The FIM EWC has specific features that are unique in motorcycle sport. All events are contested in part at night, even during 8 hour races. The FIM EWC is one of the rare World Championships where there is a free choice of tyre. Something else that’s original about the FIM EWC are the spectacular Le Mans style starts where the riders race across the track to jump on their bikes.
On the long distance events that put riders and bikes to the test, teams of two or three riders take turns gripping the handlebars of machines that are very close to standard production bikes.

2024 : THE RACES
The Endurance World Championship has introduced changes to the Belgian
manche format!
After two years of a 24-hour format, the race evolves and becomes the 8 hours of Spa Motos.
Warner Bros. Discovery Sports, PHA Claude Michy (promoter of the Belgian manche), and the
Spa-Francorchamps circuit made this choice in concordance.
New pages in the history of the sidecar will be written at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The FIM Sidecar World Championship began in 1949.
It has experienced a real renaissance in recent years thanks to its new management. It can now pride itself on presenting high quality grids from all the main European Sidecar racing nations.
The Sidecar is a motor sport where male and female passengers compete on an equal footing but also a real team sport where the role of the “passenger” is almost as important as that of the driver.
Its strict regulations guarantee perfect equality between the 600cc, boosted by the power of the engines of recognized motorcycle manufacturers (Honda / Yamaha / Kawasaki / Suzuki), thus promising breathtaking and competitive races.
