2’20.344: this the first reference for the 24H SPA EWC Motos 2022, achieved during the pre-Spa tests of the 17th and 18th of May. It was achieved by the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team, the full name of the BMW official team.

This team will be riding almost in their own backyard on the 4th and 5th of June since they are based at Zonhoven, in Belgium, and directed by Werner Daemen. The French native Jérémy Guarnoni, the Ukrainian Ilya Mykhalchyk and the German Markus Reiterberger are all keyed up ready for the challenge. “We are going there to win!”, warned the first quote at the end of April.

The trio’s performances, that dominated the two days of the test, can only strengthen this ambition. The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team will  seek the second victory  in their history, eight months after securing  a win in the 6Hr at Most.

This would be their first at the 24-hours distance. Werner Daemen’s men  will be both motivated and vengeful after having had to deal with bad luck at the last 24Hr of Le Mans. A stone pierced the bike’s radiator pipe, which made the engine temperature overheat and eventually forced them to give up the ghost. Major points lost that the vice-champions of the world will really want to recoup at Spa-Francorchamps.
