Thirty minutes into the 4 hour race, Karel Hanika led the N°7 Yamaha at a furious pace, climbing from 6th to 4th position. The Czech rider was 1.5 seconds faster than his rivals, with the exception of the N°1 Suzuki, ridden by Guintoli, who was on the same pace and even set the fastest lap. By lap 120, the French rider of Yoshimura SERT Motul had built up a 39 second lead over the N°5 F.C.C. TSR Honda France, and over a minute over the N°37 BMW MOTORRAD WORLD ENDURANCE TEAM.

At that point, the N°34 JMA RACING ACTION BIKE Suzuki, which was outside the top 20, crashed out of the race at Turn 7 and caught fire. The rider escaped without injury but the race director made the decision to deploy the safety car while marshalls cleared the burnt out machine.

In Superstock, the world cup leaders, TEAM 18 SAPEURS POMPIERS CMS MOTOSTORE, moved up to second place at 6pm, behind the N°33 Kawasaki.

Superstock is where the fight is most intense after 6 hours of racing, with a neck and neck battle between the N°18 Yamaha and the N°33 Kawasaki of TEAM 33 LOUIT APRIL MOTO, for first place in the category. At the top of the standings, Gregg Black on the N°1 Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki is gradually extending his lead over the N°5 Honda and the N°37 BMW; the last three bikes to be on the same lap. The N°6 official ERC Endurance Ducati was off the pace in an unassuming 10th place, while the N°333 VILTAIS RACING IGOL Yamaha, which was in the top five, dropped back to 15th after losing nine minutes in the pits for repairs.

At the head of the SPA EWC 24 Hours, the positions remain unchanged. The N°1 Suzuki finished the 8th hour in the lead and took the 10 points awarded at the end of the event. This was enough to temporarily increase its lead in the championship over the YART Yamaha Official Team EWC bike. In Superstock, the N°44 No Limits Motor Team Suzuki crashed out of fourth just before the end of the eighth hour. The N°33 Kawasaki of Team 33 Louit April, which leads the class, is in 7th place overall.
