Third in the 24 Hours Motorcycles of Le Mans, the F.C.C. TSR Honda France team got his 2022 season off to a good start. An improved package, a solid team, fast times: Mike di Meglio, Josh Hook and Gino Rea made a strong impression in the Sarthe, and are now focused on staying on the podium at Spa-Francorchamps, and, if possible, climbing to the highest step.
The manufacturer with most victories in the Belgian race, Honda is counting on its trio to make its colours shine. World champion in the 125cc in 2008, Mike di Meglio will be one of the HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) spearheads on the weekend of 5 June. And he is eager to be there, on a track that he believes is “unique in the world”.
The four test days carried out last year have whetted his appetite. “It’s a magical circuit, truly fantastic. I know of no other track that offers such thrills, with ultra-fast bends at over 200 km/hr, and also the Raidillon with huge compression where you are crushed by the gravitational force. It’s unique in the world!”
The Toulouse native says he must beware of the night, as the woods of Spa-Francorchamps offer different track conditions to those of the Bugatti circuit. “We will also have to be vigilant with the weather”, he warns, “because at Spa-Francorchamps, it can be raining in one part of the circuit but not in another. We risk having surprises!”
